Safety Is Not a Priority. It's a Prerequisite.
Every mission Spear Helicopters flies is built on a foundation of rigorous training, disciplined maintenance, and an uncompromising safety culture. We don't cut corners — ever.
Our Safety Record
Spear Helicopters maintains an industry-leading safety record built over decades of operations in some of Canada's most demanding environments. Our Safety Management System (SMS) is fully integrated into every aspect of our operation — from pre-flight planning to post-mission review.
Certified. Compliant. Accountable.

Our operations team and flight crew are certified for the transport of dangerous goods in accordance with ICAO Technical Instructions and Transport Canada regulations — enabling us to support fuel delivery, chemical transport, and industrial logistics.
External Load Operations Approval
Spear Helicopters holds Transport Canada approval for external load (sling load) operations. Our pilots are trained and certified for a wide range of load types, including Class A through Class D external loads.
WHMIS & Hazardous Materials
All ground crew and operations personnel are WHMIS-certified and trained in the handling and transport of hazardous materials, ensuring safe operations at industrial sites and remote facilities.
Occupational Health & Safety Compliance
Spear Helicopters operates in full compliance with provincial and federal occupational health and safety regulations. Our safety programs are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect current standards and best practices.
Crew Training & Recurrency
Every Spear Helicopters pilot undergoes rigorous initial and recurrent training — including simulator sessions, mountain flying endorsements, and emergency procedures training. We exceed Transport Canada minimums on every training requirement.
